Hello and welcome to Class Kusama! We are a fun, friendly Reception class named after the amazing artist Yayoi Kusama, who is famous for her bright colors, polka dots, and amazing imagination. Just like her art, our classroom is full of creativity, curiosity, and fun learning adventures!

 đź“š READING BOOKS

In Class Kusama, we love exploring stories and books every day!

  • Story Time: Every day, children enjoy story time with a special book chosen by the teacher.

  • Reading Books: These come home at the end of each week for children to have a go at reading independently and share with their family.

  • Each week, children select a library book of their choice to take home. These books are not matched to their reading level, and may not be fully readable by the child, but they are perfect for sharing with family. The main goal is to develop a love of books and spark curiosity, allowing children to explore stories, pictures, and ideas in a fun and engaging way.

Book change days:

  • đź“– Reading books: Friday

  • 📚 Library books: Wednesday

✨ Don’t forget to read at home and talk about what you have read.

🤸 PE Days

Our PE sessions are every Tuesdays

Important reminders:

  • Come to school in your PE kit on PE day (Black joggers or leggings, white t - shirt or polo shirt and trainers)

🏠 Homework Challenges

Homework helps us practice what we learn at school:

  • Homework books are collected on Monday and new work goes home every Friday.

  • Each week, children get a Homework Challenge or worksheet to complete mostly on their own, with some help from adults.

âś… Things to Remember

  • Bring your bookbag to school every day.

  • Read your reading practice books at home.
