School Admissions

We are pleased that you are considering a place for your child here at Pentland Infant and Nursery School. Please find information below about how to apply for a place. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact or visit the school.

Admissions to Pre-School and Nursery are handled directly by the school. Admissions from Reception to Year Two are applied for and allocated through the Local Authority (see details below).

Number of Places and Admissions criteria:

Pre-School has 16 places.

Nursery has 28 places.

Reception - Year Two has a Published Admissions Number (PAN) of 49.

Should we at any time be over-subscribed, the criteria below will be used to allocate places in order of priority:

1. Children in public care (looked after children) or a child who was previously looked after in England.
2. Children who were previously in state care outside of England and ceased to be as a result of being adopted.
3. Children living in the school's priority admission area who have an older brother or sister attending, from the same address at the date of admission (the sibling rule).
4. Other children living in the school's priority admission area;
5. Children who live outside the priority area who have an older brother or sister attending from the same address at the time of admission.
