Week Commencing 6th November (3 Weeks)

Over the past 3 weeks, we have been reading the story, A Brave Bear.

We dicussed what it meant to feel brave. We may also feel brave when have fallen down or even when visiting the dentist.

Some activities within provision were:

  • Counting the correct number of teddies to match each numeral 
  • Car gross motor activity 
  • Cutting practise - cutting along straight and patterned lines
  • Lacing string through 'bear' themed templates
  • Baby care giving tuff tray activity 

 

Diwali (Sunday 12th November)

As Diwali took place on a weekend, we engaged in fun activities linked to Colour and Celebration to help us with our awareness of different festivals.

These incuded:

  • Creating Rangoli patterns in coloured sand
  • Creating Diva Lamps out of paper plates

 

Maths: Matching 

Over the past 3 weeks, we have been learning about Matching. We learnt what 'matching' means and practised identifying matching buttons, matching pairs of socks and building matching towers.

We will continue to practise building matchign towers next week. 

 

Phonics: 

We have begun teaching Phonics in the form of daily taught sessions within small groups. Last week, We had taught the phoneme 's'. 

You can help by encouraging your child to identify objects around the house which begin with the phoneme.

Rather than identifying the letter names, please encourage your child to identify the phonemes first.
