Week Commencing 5th February

Date: 18th Feb 2024 @ 7:07pm

During the last week before the holidays, we introduced a Non-Fiction text.

It was called Egg to Penguin. Through reading this book, we learnt lots of interesting facts!

Children engaged in lots of activities! This included:

  • Penguin sponge printing craft
  • Antarctic sensory tuff tray - We had fun exploring the texture of snow!
  • Scooping pom-pom's into different sized containers
  • Building towers of various sizes, using Lego

Group Time

Maths: We taught the number 2. Children learnt to identify the number and used their fingers to show '2'. They practised counting 2 objects from a small set (Groups 1 and 2).

Singing: We sang familar nursery rhymes and joined in with action songs (group 3).

Cosmic Yoga: We practised our Yoga moves through following a story, featuring Pedro the Penguin.

Phonics

We continued to teach the phoneme 'p'. You can help by encouraging your child to identify any objects which begin with the phoneme.

Chinese New Year

Children dressed up and participated in an awesome Dragon dance! This provided a rich context for understanding the world as we learnt about different cultures, traditions, and celebrations. They also engaged in fun and stimulating activities, such as:

  • Using chopsticks to pick up noodles
  • Scooping up red rice
  • Collaging Lanterns, using colourful tissue paper
