Week Commencing 22nd January

Date: 28th Jan 2024 @ 3:01pm

We had been reading a new focus text. Our new story is Goldilocks and The Three Bears.

This is a clip of the story being read aloud:

Our children enjoyed exploring the texture of oats! They were sharing the oats between the three bears, developing their skills in scooping and pouring.

These are some of the activities we had on offer during the week:

  • Building a house for the 3 bears
  • Tracing different patterns, using a range of loose objects
  • Threading string through different sized colanders
  • Goldilocks themed couting activity
  • Playdough - focus on 'rolling'. Children explored rolling with every-day objects, such as gluestick, pen etc.

Maths

Groups 1 and 2 have begun learning the number 1. They learnt how to form the number by using their magic finger in the air. They also showed 1 finger and identified the numicon 1. You can help by encouraging them to count 1 object from a small set.

New Starters (January Intake)

Our new children have begun their grouptime sessions. They were busy singing nursery rhymes, joining in with action songs and learning each other's names.

Phonics

We had taught the phoneme 't'. You can help by encouraging your child to identify any objects which begin with the phoneme which are seen aroudn the house. For example, 'tissue' or even 'towel'.

PE

We enjoyed our first PE session in the hall! Children developed their gross motor skills by crawling through the tunnel, walking along the bench and jumping across hoops. We had lots of fun!
