Week Commencing 25th September

Date: 1st Oct 2023 @ 5:57pm

Autumn

On Monday, we learnt that the new season, Autumn, had begun. We learnt that leaves on the tree change colour. They change from green to red, brown, yellow or brown! They also start to fall from the tree onto the ground. To help us with our learning of Autumn, children were seen taking part in an Autumn fingerprint craft.

Key Text

Last week, we read a new story called, 'Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Can You See?' We were introduced to Eric Carle who is an Author. Our class is named after him! Eric Carle was actually the illustrator and drew the pictures in this book.

This is an animated version of the story being read:

In particular, this story helps childrens language development as the repetitive text helps build vocabulary. It also develops their colour recognition, Introducing and naming colours.

Here is a child pretending to be Brown Bear, using her binoculars and sharing what she could see.

These are some of the fun and stimulating activities, children were engaged in during the week:

  • Bear Collage Craft
  • Counting the correct number of unifix to match each numbered bear
  • Using a tweezer to pick up coloured feathers
  • Mark-making patterns on coloured sand
  • Lacing string through strory themed animal templates
  • Children had fun making binoculars! They pretended to be Brown Bear and shared what they could see.

PSED:

Brown Bear visited us during our Circle Time. We gave him a big wave and also shared our name. This activity is helping us to develop our social and language skills.
