Week beginning 4th April
Date: 4th Apr 2022 @ 8:31am
In English we will be contining our work on Soar (SOAR: An Animated Short - Bing video). We will be looking at adjectives to describe a character's apperance but also their personality. We will be putting this together into a short narrative, retelling the story of Soar. We will also be writing a letter or diary entry towards the end of the week.
There are also some brilliant daily Year 1 phonic video lessons available on Letters and Sounds for Home and School - YouTube Feel free to ask which would be the most suitable videos for your child to watch.
In maths the children will be continuing to work on 'measurement' but this week we will be introducing and comparing capacity. We will be using the mathematical voculabulary below.
There are also some brilliant Year 1 daily maths video lessons available on the home learning section of the White Rose Maths website. https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning
You may also wish to download the FREE 1-minute maths app onto your devises.
It is aimed at Key Stage 1 pupils (ie, age 5-6 years). Individual one-minute tasks focus on adding and subtracting – and on ‘Subitising’, the skill of instantly recognising the number of items in a group without counting.
In RE we will be learning about the importance of different religious festivals and celebrations, including Easter and Ramadan.
In DT we will be making Easter nests.
In Science we will be learning about the life cycle of the chicks and bringing them into our class to get a closer look. The children will also be offered the opportunity to handle the chicks.
Ways to help at home...
Why not investigate capacity by encoraging your child to fill and empty different sized containers? This is a good activity to do in the bath!
Make sure you continue to read with your child on a daily basis.
We hope you have a lovely, relaxing holiday.
