Week beginning 27th September

Date: 27th Sep 2021 @ 7:23am

English

This week we will be introducing the children to the text 'The Lonely Beast' by Chris Judge. This is a lovely story all about a beast who is lonely and wants to find some friends. The beast begins a daring and dangerous quest to find others just like him. The children will be looking at the front cover and suggesting ideas for what they think the story might be about.

After they have read the story the children will be sequencing the story and making their own story maps. We will be encouraging them to use lots of adverbials such as, 'at last, soon, suddenly'.

Topic

This week in our PSHE lesson we will be discussing the meaning of the word 'lonely' and thinking about how we can help people that are feeling lonely.

In science the children will be naming and labelling different parts of the body.

In geography this week the children will be exploring the concept of 'place'. We will be taking the children out to explore the school grounds. They will be thinking about where they are; School, Savile Town, Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, England. The children will be finding out about the school address and encouraged to think about learning their own address.
