Julia Donaldson class - Review of week beginning 20th November 2023

Date: 22nd Nov 2023 @ 3:14pm

This week the children have been learning about the role of a school councillor. They have had class discussions about the responsibilities of a school councillor, and understanding that they are like helpers and leaders in the school. The children have also been brainstorming ideas on how to improve school and sharing positive ideas. They have taken part in completing an appilcation form and will learn about the importance of voting and election and how it helps make decisions.

In maths the children have been looking at the compositions of 4 and 5. The children have been learning that all
numbers are made up of smaller numbers and that these are referred to as parts. Learning to see a whole number and
its parts at the same time is a key development in children’s number sense. The children have been doing lots of practical activites to explore a range of ways to partition a whole number into two parts; For example, 4 can be composed of 2 and 2 or 3 and 1
