Review of week beginning 19th February

Date: 26th Feb 2024 @ 9:53am

This week we have started our new exciting topic all about the 'Great Fire of London'. We started the week by watching a video to show what life looked like in 1666 when the fire started out. We then thought about what we already knew about the fire and thought of questions of things that we would like to find out. As we learned the facts about the fire we began acting out what happened, thinking carefully about how we might be feeling at different points. We created a timeline of events and then wrote factual sentences to teach someone a fact about the fire. We then learned about Samuel Pepys in preparation for our learning next week.

In maths our Year 2continued our work on money; comparing different amounts of money, calculating money, making a pound in different ways before moving on to finding change. We also looked at partitioning numbers, thinking about how many tens and ones make up a two digit number, using base 10 to create the numbers.

Our Year1s have been looking at place value up to 50 and working out how many tens and ones there are in different numbers.

In science our Year 2s have  learned about minibeasts, thinking of different ways to classify different minibeasts, such as how many legs they have or whether it can fly. Our Year 1s have been grouping animals.

In PE we have begun our new topics of Dance and Gymnastics. In RE we are begin to think about how people pray, this week the children used their own experiences to talk about how Muslims pray. In Art and Design we were using paper to create tube towers. In Geography we used compasses to identify different directions
