Oliver Jeffers -review week beginning 11th March

Date: 18th Mar 2024 @ 5:31pm

This week in our English lessons we completed our work on Izzy Gizmo. We started the week by writing sentences to describe all of the things that Izzy did to help the crow.  We then thought about what invention we would make if we were Izzy Gizmo and used our descriptive writing skills to write about our inventions. We then created an advert to try and sell our invention to others. On Friday we were introduced to our stimulus for next week. We watched a video called 'Soar' and used our prediction skills to predict what was inside a bag at the beginning of the video. We will continue our work using this video as a stimulus next week.

In maths our Year 2s continued our work on multiplcation and division, making equal groups by sharing out a group of objects. We then moved on to divide by 2, using our knowledge of grouping and sharing to help us to solve problems using the two times tables.

Our Year 1s began our new topic on measuring and comparing Mass. We have used bucket balances to help us to compare objects and decide whether they were heavier or lighter

In computing we sequenced instructions to make rockets and typed them up practising out keyboard skills.

In Science our Year 2s carried out an experiment to find out whether woodlice prefer damp or dry conditions. Our Year 1s have been thinking about what animals eat and sorting animals into herbivores, carnivores and omnivores.

In Geography we recapped on the names of the countries and capital cities of the Uk before thinking about whether the weather is the same throughout the Uk.
