Oliver Jeffers review of week beginning 20th Nov 2023

Date: 29th Nov 2023 @ 9:53pm

English

This week the children have been retelling the traditional tale  'Little Red Riding Hood'. We focused this week on a version of Little Red Riding Hood and thought about what the different characters might feel or say. The children had lots of fun acting out the story and pretending to be the different characters.

We learnt about different sentence types such as questions, statements, commands and exclamation sentences and used them in our writing. We thought about what the characters would say and discussed what type of sentence it was and whether it needed a full stop, question mark or an exclamation mark. We then learnt about speech bubbles and added in our characters speech.

Maths

This week in Maths our Year 1s  have continued to learn about addition and subtraction and how to use the part-part whole model and a number line to work out a simple subtraction number sentence.

Our Year 2s,  have been working on adding 2 two digit numbers. We have used lots of different, practical resources to help us with the calculations.

RE

In RE we have shared our knowledge on the Five Pillars of Islam and discussed the meaning behind each of the Five Pillars.

PE

In PE we have been doing multi-skills and have continued to develop our ball control skills, practising throwing and catching and moving on to using our hands and feet to roll and move the ball. We developed our skills in working with a partner and how to pass the ball to our partner by both throwing and rolling.

In PSHE we talked about the importance of friendship.

We also continued with our Opera singing and our Nativity songs.
