Week commencing 20th November 2023

This week we have recapped on a familiar story 'Little Red Riding Hood'. The children enjoyed an animated retelling of the story by Mrs De'Ath at the beginning of the week. They then carried out their own pieces of drama based on the story, thinking about how the different characters might be feeling at different points in the story and how this might express the way they stand, move and talk. We then moved on to look at different sentence types, focussing on commands, questions, statements and explanations. We picked out different parts of the story and used what we had learned about the sentence types to think of our own lines. We then began to think creatively, imagining that we were Little Red Riding Hood and we were going for a walk in the woods. We looked at photographs of different woodlands and then made a list of all of the different things we may pack into our baskets. We think used our knowledge of nouns and adjectives to make interesting sentences, including expanded noun phrases.

In maths we have been working on adding 2 two digit numbers. We have used lots of different, practical resources to help us with the calculations.

In computing we have started our work on coding and algorithms, thinking about the definitions of the words and the importance of clear, consise instructions. We thought about whether it mattered which order the instructions were given in and carried out experiements to help us to decide.

In RE we learned about the 5 Pillars of Islam. In PSHE we talked about the importance of friendship. We also continued with our Opera singing and our Nativity songs.
