Anthony Browne Class - Review of Week Beginning 6th November 2023

Date: 18th Nov 2023 @ 10:26am

English

This week we began the week by learning about Bonfire night. We talked about the different fireworks that we saw over the weekend and then learnt about the significance of the day. We then carried out a sequencing task where we ordered pictures of the events, writing sentences underneath each picture to explain what was happening.

We learned about the importance of Remembrance Day and talked about why we celebrate it and when. Mrs De'Ath held an assembly for all of the Key Stage One children, where they held a 2 minutes silence. The children all designed a medal and then used different resources to create their own poppies.

Maths

This Week in Maths the children learnt about addition. They used the first, then, now board to create addition stories and learnt the correct symbols to use when writing an addition number sentence. We continued to use the part part-whole model and the bar model to help us to solve our additon number problems.

History

We started by thinking about the meaning of history and that it means the past. We learnt about the facts behind the Gunpowder plot and the key people involved.

Science

In science the children have been learning about the seasons and the weather associated with it. We learnt about the different weather symbols and thought about what season it is when it is our birthdays. We also looked at what the weather is like when it is our birthday month.
