Week beginning 28th February

Date: 28th Feb 2022 @ 9:05am

Welcome back. We hope you have all had a wonderful holiday

In English we are learning about the Great Fire of London. We will start the week by considering what we know and would like to know about the topic. We will use our reading skills to investigate the key facts: What happened? When did it happen? Why did it happen? What happened afterwards?

On Thursday we will be taking part in World Book Day. Children are invited to dress up as a character of their choosing, if they wish. During the day we will be taking part in lots of fun reading activities and sharing our favourite books.

There are also some brilliant daily Year 1 phonic video lessons available on Letters and Sounds for Home and School - YouTube Feel free to ask which would be the most suitable videos for your child to watch.

In maths the children will be working on their knowledge of place value with numbers up to 50. They will be thinking of which numbers are one less than/one more than and practically comparing groups and quantities.

There are also some brilliant Year 1 daily maths video lessons available on the home learning section of the White Rose Maths website. https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning

In History we will continue to learn more about the Great Fire of London.

In RE, we will be thinking about Pancake Day and learning about the importance of this day (Shrove Tuesday) in the Christian calendar.

In Science, we are starting to learn and name different materials.
