Week beginning 11th October
Date: 11th Oct 2021 @ 10:08am
After an exciting start to the week (top secret!) we will be designing 'Missing' posters for The Lonely Beast. The children will be using and applying the adjectives they have been learning to write some detailed descriptions. We will then be teaching the children the format of letter writing and they will be writing their own letter to The Lonely Beast.
There are also some brilliant daily Year 1 / 2 phonic video lessons available on Letters and Sounds for Home and School - YouTube
This week we will be working with 10 frames to develop the children's understanding of place value.
We will also be practising counting forwards and backwards using a numberline as well as learning about ordinal numbers, 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc.
There are also some brilliant Year 1 / 2 daily maths video lessons available on the home learning section of the White Rose Maths website. https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning
This week in our RE lesson the children will be thinking about special places of worship, especially Mosques.
Our Black History Month person that the children will be learning more about this week is Nelson Mandela.
To link in with finding out about Nelson Mandela the children will be learning about Ndebele art. They will explore how some villages in South Africa paint their houses using geomentric shapes and bold colours before they have a go at creating their own design.
Ways to help at home...
Encourage your child to walk to school every day. If you do have to drive to school, try and park further away and walk part of the way - park and stride.
Have a chat with your child and find out what they have learnt about Nelson Mandela and Ndebele art this week.
