Useful games are: Picnic on Pluto, Dragon’s Den, Buried Treasure, Sentence Substitution.

Pupils in Year One should practise Phase 3-5 activities.

Click on Literacy and then Phonics – Jolly Songs and Jolly Sounds.

This is a useful tool for knowing what the different sounds we teach actually sound like.

Autumn 1

We are looking forward to having an exciting term, our topic is ‘Space Explorers’ we will be researching who was first walked on the moon, who was the first British Astronaut and first Yorkshire woman to visit space.

Week beginning 11th  September 2017

We will be watching a short animated film, based on the book ‘The Way Back Home.’ This is about a small child who meets an alien on the moon; they both have trouble with their space ships. They help each other and then become friends.

We will be making our own story maps, thinking about what questions they could ask each other and then then the children will pretend to be the small child and write a letter to the alien.

We will be using our phonic skills, finger spaces and full stops.

We will be focusing on ordering and writing numbers up to 20. We will also be designing 2D space crafts and rockets.

In History we will be finding out and researching interesting facts about the first man on the moon.

In DT we will be constructing model space ships and in Science we will be labelling parts of the body.
