Between the 2nd May 2017 and the 12th May 2017 the children at Pentlands got to sample new food at lunchtime. Back at class the children told their class councillors what they liked and which food they would like to eat at school for dinner. The children voted for their favourite foods so the class councillors could present the results at their meeting with the school cook Mrs Asmal. The school council meet with Mrs Asmal on the 17th May to discuss the food their class liked the best. Mrs Asmal was really pleased with the school councils help and will introduce the new food to the menu in September 2017.
School Council meeting- with Mrs Asmal 17.5.17: to discuss the new sample menu. Children throughout school got the opportunity to test samples of the new school dinners. If there is a smiley face at least 85% of the class enjoyed the food and that will now go on the new menu in September 2017. If there is a question mark face at least 50% of the class enjoyed the food that will also go on the new menu. A sad face means that less than 30% enjoyed the food and that means that it will not be on the new menu.
Mrs Asmal asked the School Councillors if there was any other food that would be suitable for the new menu to let her or Mrs Barker know, she explained that fried food is not healthy and that school would not be able to provide chips with meals.
