Pocket Theatre - Banana Breaktime

During this workshop the children got to meet and interact with the children from different schools through games designed to help them to get to know their new friends.

The children were tasked with thinking about the journey a banana makes from the farm to our house. The bananas journey started with the farmer planting, growing and picking the banana and then moves to the transportation companies taking the bananas to different countries. Once it gets to our country the banana is taken to a wholesaler and from their to a supermarket where the consumer can purchase it. The children were given the chance to discuss the work each person does on the bananas journey and what they get back from that work. They acted as all the different parts of its journey starting with the farmer and ending with the consumer. They then had to pose as two photo of one aspect of the journey, one photo showing fair treatment and the other showing unfair treatment.
