Nursery AM - Eric Carle 2018-2019

Mrs Bell

Nursery (AM)

Class: Eric Carle

Eric Carle was born in New York and is most famous for being the author of the very popular 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar'. We will be learning all about Eric Carle and the different stories that he has written throughout the year.

Information about our class:

We are morning Nursery. Our teachers are Mrs Bell, Mrs Shaikh and Mrs Asmal. We start school at 8.45 and finish at 11.45.

All children will be offered milk and a piece of fruit for their snack. Please inform a member of staff if your child has an allergy or food intolerance.

Most of the learning in nursery is through play where your child will have many opportunities to explore a variety of different activities. Creative activities and outdoor learning are popular with many young children and it is likely that your child will occasionally get wet or dirty clothing. Please could you pack a change of clothing so we can ensure your child stays comfortable during the rest of the nursery session. Thank you for your support

What you need to know:

Please help your child to remember their book bags everyday. We will change books twice throughout the week.

Special Events or Days:

What we are learning:

Autumn 2

Week commencing 26th November

This week we are continuing learning all about the story of 'Golidlocks and the 3 Bears'. The children are all now very confident to tell the story, using the actions to help them. This week we will be creating some instructions in preparation for making porridge. We will explore the different ingredients first, talking about how they feel and smell before making our own recipes.

In maths we will be talking about positional language and practising using words such as on top, behind, underneath to describe where objects are

Autumn 1

Week commencing 24th September

This week we will be continuing to learn all about the story of 'The Gingerbread Man'. We will be using puppets and other props to help us to retell the story. We will be using the story to help us to count to 10, changing the quantity of buttons on different gingerbread men and touch counting them to work out how many there are.

We will be continuing to develop our PSHE skills through small circle times, encouraging the children to speak out in familiar groups.

Week commencing 17th September

This week we will be continuing to welcome and settle our new children into nursery. We are very excited to start learning all about the story of 'The Gingerbread Man'. We will be learning lots of makaton actions to help us to remember the story.

We will be practising lots of number rhymes to help us to count to 10 and begin to count out specific quantities of objects.
