This week we will be learning all about the Hindu festival of Diwali and teaching the children about how it is celebrated. We will be reading the story of Rama and Sita and also watching a shadow puppet version of the story. In Year One this week we will be teaching the children the part, part, whole method to help with their addition skills.

In Year Two, we are learning how to compare numbers using <, > and = .

To enhance their understanding of Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights, we will be having a Diwali morning on Thursday where the children will be able to create Rangoli patterns by sewing, paiting or using chalk. They will also be able to take part in some Bollywood dancing, make clay diva pots and shadow puppets.


We will also be teaching the children about bonfire / firework safety.
