23/06/19 Sea Creatures
Date: 24th Jun 2019 @ 6:14pm
Week Commencing - Monday 24th June 2019
Communication, Language and Literacy
The children are going to be selecting a sea creature to find out more about and then creating their very own factfile project. They will be using books and the internet to help them write some interesting facts and draw some illustrations.
This week's theme is money. The children will be taught to recognise and sort 1p, 2p, 5p, 10p, 20p, 50p, £1 and £2 coins. We will then be having our very own 'Pentland Ice Cream Parlour' where the children will be encouraged to work out the cost and pay for ice creams with a selection of different toppings.
Please make sure your child has their PE kit in school everyday.
Mr Peake will be helping us get ready for our sports day next week (Thursday 27th June) by practising some actvities.
We will be talking to and reminding children about keeping safe in the sun. Please can you apply sun cream in the morning on days where the forecast is good.
Personal, Social and Emotional Development
We will be reading and talking about the book 'Fill a Bucket - A guide to daily happiness for young children' and talking about ways we can make others feel happy.
Understanding the World
As we are finding out about sea creatures we will be thinking about the effect that too much plastic has upon creatures that live in the sea.
We will also be choosing someone to be our 'Class photographer of the day'.
Expressive Arts and Design
We will be using our creative skills to draw our own illustrations of our favourite sea creature.
How you can help at home...
* Find out information with your child about their chosen sea creature.
* Encourage your child to handle money, recognise and count different coins.
